Big Playstation announcement due

Sony are set to make a big announcement this Tuesday (31st March) with debate growing on what the announcement could be.  Could an updated or modified Playstation 3 be on the horizon?

Rumours are a plenty but a gut feel is that this will be nothing groundbreaking as the recent Games Developer Conference 2009 would of been a perfect platform for such an announcement. My own assumptions are that Sony may finally be announcing a price cut to the Playstation 3 range.

With demand for the Wii still going strong and the bargain priced Xbox 360 still selling well 4 years since its launch, the Playstation 3 needs to be price competitive, being that you can easily own an Xbox and a Wii for the cost of a Playstation 3.

If a price cut isn’t announced tomorrow then I’m sure it will only be a matter of weeks before it is.
