Kinect finally priced

After weeks of speculation, Microsoft have finally announced that the official price of Kinect will be £129.99

Many hoped the device would come in around £99 or less. At £130 it will be harder for the device to reach out to a new audience, which is ultimately Microsoft’s goal.

Further Microsoft will be launching a special Xbox 360 S with 4GB, in effect replacing the entry level “Arcade” Xbox 360 currently available. It was also announced that the recommended retail price for games will be £39.99.

While we’re confident our price engine will pick up on the cheapest deals on Kinect, hardware doesn’t usually have a large margin for discount. I believe Kinect may be discounted to around £99 as stores will compete for sales in the month before launch.

I expect (and hope) that Kinect game titles listed on our site will average around £30 or less if lucky. Ultimately you can setup a free price watch and be sent email alerts as prices drop.
