Since its announcement at E3 in 2009, Kinect has been widely anticipated and has the potential to transform the casual gaming market.

Kinect is a new device for the Xbox 360 that allows for a “controller-free gaming and entertainment experience”. There’s no need for a controller, you ARE the controller. Using your own body’s movement, hand gestures and spoken commands you can now control your Xbox 360 and games that support Kinect.

The Wii has been an incredible success and has led to Sony and Microsoft wanting to follow Nintendo’s lead and reach out to a broader gaming audience. Kinect has the potential to change casual gaming dramatically so it will be interesting to see the response it receives on release.

Microsoft Kinect has a release date of 4th November 2010.
